Welcome to the HER[AI]TAGE Digital Story Collection!
This online collection brings together 36 carefully curated stories gathered from local communities in Croatia, Slovenia, and Serbia. Each story reflects personal memories, traditional ecological knowledge, and lived experiences connected to local landscapes, environments, and ways of life.
To enrich and extend these narratives, the stories have been creatively transformed using artificial intelligence. Every story is accompanied by an AI-generated illustration inspired by the original account, as well as AI voice narration available in four languages: English, Croatian, Slovenian, and Serbian. This multilingual and multimodal approach ensures broad accessibility while respecting the diversity of the communities involved.
In addition to the narrative and audio-visual elements, each story is complemented by a short educational text. These accompanying texts provide contextual explanations, highlight key cultural or environmental themes, and support reflection and learning. They are designed to help visitors better understand the broader significance of the stories and to encourage connections between personal memory, environmental awareness, and contemporary learning contexts.
This collection is intended to be explored both intuitively and reflectively. Visitors are invited to listen to the stories, engage with the illustrations, read the educational insights, and consider how traditional knowledge and lived experience can inform present-day discussions on culture, environment, and sustainability.

To enhance the emotional resonance and overall experience of these narratives, we have employed generative AI to create accompanying illustrations and audio narrations.
