The construction of bridges has remained in my memory. To Novi Sad, for example, for a long time, there was that Pontoon or Hagen’s bridge, from the 18th century. At one point, something new was needed, and the Railway was the first to solve the problem. The first bridge was the Railway Bridge. And that’s where the first victim was, a certain Mita Darijević; he died there, fell from the bridge during construction, and in a way, I accepted this poetically. The Danube accepted the sacrifice, and we began to build bridges.
