On holidays, at Christmas, New Year’s, we children went singing from house to house. And then we got an apple or dried fruit, not money. Yes, walnuts or something like that. We children loved to go, to wish a Happy New Year. I remember that at every crossroads stood a wooden cross. Father and mother always said, may God bless our fields and our work. We put flowers there. We gathered flowers and put them on the ‘cross tree’ (the cross), because that watched over your fields.
