I remember the droughts, when every plant had to be watered by hand. And how people conserved water then; everything was used with care. I don’t directly remember major floods, but I know that every weather event hit the village hard. There was solidarity back then – if someone ran out of flour or meat, it was borrowed. If there was a wedding or a feast, everyone would come, bringing what they had. That doesn’t happen today – people have grown distant. In the past, everything was tied to the land and the weather, and that taught us modesty and togetherness.
