As a child, I spent a lot of time in the fields and pastures. I watched the cows, mowed the grain, cleaned the barn, and did everything that was needed. The best thing for me was when we went swimming in the stream – that was our cheerful entertainment because we had nothing else. Life in the village was modest, but we were united. In the evening, the neighbors would meet on the road, talking about what needed to be done tomorrow. That doesn’t happen today. My most beautiful sight is that stream and the fields around it, where everything was green and where we ran barefoot. When I remember that, I feel nostalgia, but also pride, because I know how we managed to survive with very little.
