Petrovaradin – a wine-growing region. Back then, people went to the harvest – a ‘moba’ (communal work gathering), which is unimaginable today. The whole family, friends, everyone went to the harvest. You see, back then, the harvest was done when it got cold, when it was cold. They waited that long for the grapes to ripen. I remember we were dressed very warmly, there were jackets and coats, sheepskin coats, until the sun came out, because we went very early. There were no cars then, we went with horse-drawn wagons, and it took time to harness the horses, to prepare everything. All those vineyards were three, four, or five kilometers away from the houses, so it took an hour to get there. And then when we started, it was still cold. Our hands were freezing, and it was difficult for those few hours until the sun warmed up. When the sun warmed up, the temperature rose, so it wasn’t a problem anymore. That was the socializing tied to the vineyard.
