There was very, very good neighborly help. Everyone in the village helped each other. If someone was building a house, if someone was in need, everyone jumped in to help. There was no panic. In the autumn, corn husking. In local terms, we husked ‘kampirje’ (corn) feathers. Hulled pumpkin ‘seeds’ for pumpkin oil. And at harvest, when the ‘machine’ (threshing machine) came. Or if someone was building a house, we always helped everyone. Village help was really at its peak. And it worked beautifully, just like ‘muzika’ (music/a clockwork), nicely synchronized.
