We drank water from the well; it was clean, unpolluted. The food was homemade, without artificial fertilizers or pesticides. We knew the plants – violets, snowdrops, marigolds. A neighbor taught me how to make creams from wax and marigold, which helped with wounds. Even today, I use herbal preparations because I believe they are healthier than medicines. My oldest son loved nature and flowers; he would transplant them into the yard so they would remain. Knowledge is being lost; young people often buy ready-made things, but whoever is willing can make everything themselves – from bread to sausages.
